PREPARATION TO FILE:
  1. Apply with the Secretary of State, Notary Public Section , 916-653-3595, for an appointment as a notary public. If appointed, the applicant will receive a commission packet and an oath.
  2. Obtain an official bond in the sum of $15,000, executed by an admitted surety insurer and not a deposit in lieu of bond.
  3. Upon receiving a commission as a Notary Public, an applicant must register with the County Clerk in the county where the person maintains a principal place of business as shown in the application submitted to the Secretary of State.
  4. Registering with the County Clerk consists of filing the oath and bond and recording the bond. This must be done no later than 30 days after beginning of the term prescribed in the commission.

  • Bond $15,000
  • Oath (2 copies)
  • Applicable Fees

In the ongoing effort to maintain costs and services, the Yolo County Clerk-Recorder asks that all document requests to be mailed to the customer include a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE). In lieu of the SASE the customer may elect to pay $1.00 for return postage which will be added to the document fee total.
