It is the responsibility of every person to conduct a search of the index to assure the availability of the Fictitious Business Name (FBN) in this county. The Clerk/Recorder's office does not do searches over the phone.

TO REQUEST A SEARCH BY MAIL: 

If you are unable to search our online index, you may request that this office conduct the search for you. To request a search please mail the following to the address listed below:

  • $5.00 for each name to be searched. The name will only be searched exactly as submitted.
  • Submit in writing the name(s) to be searched.
  • Fee in the form of a check or money order made payable to the Yolo County Clerk/Recorder or the Credit Card Charge Form.
  • Daytime phone number.
  • Self Addressed Stamped Envelope for return mailing. You may choose to add $1.00 to your total in lieu of the Self Addressed Stamped Envelope.

Each California county maintains an index for their county. You may contact each county for an in depth search.
