Obtaining Copies

In the on going effort to maintain costs and services, the Yolo County Clerk-Recorder asks that all documents requests to be mailed to the customer include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope. In Lieu of the Self Addressed Stamped Envelope the customer may elect to pay $1.00 for return postage which will be added to the document fee total.

The Recorder’s Office maintains microfilm and digital copies of all previously recorded documents from 1970-present.

You are invited to use the publicly available machines in the office to search for any records. We are unable to provide searches in response to telephone requests. To obtain a copy of a recorded document you may request one in person in our office, by fax or by mail.

If your document was recorded later than August 1970, you may locate this information using the Official Document Search.

Orders for copies of recorded documents require the following information:

  • The recording reference number. This may be a book and page, or document number
  • Date of the recording
  • Names of the parties involved in the documents

If you cannot find the recording reference number, you must indicate the approximate date of recording.

If you are mailing a check and do not know the exact number of pages of a particular document (available through the Official Document Search), insert “not to exceed $20” or an amount that you think is appropriate. We will fill in the amount and send you a receipt with the document.

Along with your request please include:

  • Fee in the form of a check or money order made payable to the Yolo County Clerk/Recorder or the Credit Card Charge Form
  • Daytime phone number
  • Self Addressed Stamped Envelope for return mailing.
