Marriage Licenses and Civil Ceremonies

Beginning June 01, 2020 the Clerk-Recorder is open to the public.

Customers can come to the Clerk-Recorder office located at 625 Court Street in Woodland to apply for Marriage Licenses in person. Customers may also compete the online Marriage application.

Interested couples seeking more information may call the Yolo County Clerk-Recorder at 530-666-8130, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Option in lieu of a public or confidential marriage license


In the on going effort to maintain costs and services, the Yolo County Clerk-Recorder asks that all documents requests to be mailed to the customer include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope. In Lieu of the Self Addressed Stamped Envelope the customer may elect to pay $1.00 for return postage which will be added to the document fee total.

Details on Marriage Room Usage and Marriage Witness Fee

Regular and confidential marriage licenses are issued by the Clerk/Recorder’s office and are valid 90 days from the date issued. Either license may be used any where in the State of California.

No appointment is needed to apply for a license. Both parties must appear together, be at least 18 years of age or older and present a valid photo identification - government issued. If you have any questions on what type of identifications are acceptable, please call our office at (530) 666-8130

Civil wedding ceremonies are performed in our office by appointment only. In order to insure availability, we encourage couples to schedule appointments well in advance of the desired ceremony date.

For the foreseeable future, we are limiting the number occupants who may be in our Ceremony Room. Staff reserves the right to determine the number of people who may enter while maintaining safe social distancing.  

You are required to have at least one witness if you have a regular marriage license. If you do not have your own witness you have the option to have a witness provided by the Clerk/Recorder's Office, for a fee.

At request; the Clerk/Recorder's Office offers wedding ceremonies performed in lanuages of English, Spanish & Tagalog
