Conclusion of the Canvass Period and Certification of the June 7, 2022 Statewide Direct Primary Election

(Woodland, CA) – The Yolo County Elections Office successfully finalized the canvass process and certified the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election. The canvass period began on Thursday, June 9, 2022 and certification and delivery of the official election results was on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. - 119,631 Registered voters in Yolo County
- 49,884 Ballots Counted
- 41.7% Total voter turnout
There are currently 119,631 registered voters in Yolo County – 49,884 ballots were counted for this election which indicates a voter turnout of 41.7%. In comparison, the total Yolo County voter turnout in the 2018 and 2020 Primary Elections respectively were: just over 43% (2018) and slightly over 55% (2020). “Yolo County overall voter turnout continues to trend higher than the statewide average. Yolo County voter turnout was upwards of 6% higher in the 2018 Statewide Primary, over 8% higher in the 2020 Presidential Primary and thus far reaching over 8.5% higher in the most recent 2022 Statewide Direct Primary compared to statewide voter turnout,” says Jesse Salinas, Yolo County Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters.
Yolo County officially transitioned to a Voters Choice Act (VCA) County for the 2022 Primary Election. VCA counties provide voters more opportunities to choose how, when, and where to cast their ballots. “The Elections team including extra help workers, community members and volunteers did an excellent job and our first election utilizing a Vote Center Model was very successful,” says Salinas. “The Elections team is already preparing for the November 8, 2022 General Election and we look forward to administering another successful election.”
