June 7, 2022 Statewide Direct Primary Election Update: County Voter Information Guide and Vote-by-Mail Ballots

County Voter Information Guides (CVIG) for the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election have been processed by the USPS distribution center in West Sacramento have been mailed to Yolo County voters. The CVIG includes Ballot Drop Box (BDB) and Vote Center (VC) locations and days/hours of operation, local candidate statements and measures and other important information. Voters that have 'opted out' of receiving a paper version of the CVIG may view it on the Yolo County Elections website: Welcome Yolo County Voters (omniballot.us).

Today the Yolo County Elections office will start mailing Vote-by-Mail ballots for the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary. All active registered voters in Yolo County can expect their ballot to arrive in their mailbox by Monday, May 16, 2022. If your ballot has not arrived by Tuesday, May 17, 2022, please contact the Yolo County Elections Office.

Key Information Regarding Vote-by-Mail Ballots

  • You do not need to request an absentee/Vote-by-Mail ballot – all active registered voters will be mailed a ballot beginning May 9, 2022.
  • Vote-by-Mail ballots can be filled out and returned in the provided envelope. Voters can return their voted ballots in their signed return identification envelopes:
    • Via the mail (no return postage needed); it must be postmarked by June 7, 2022 and received by our office no later than June 14, 2022;
    • By dropping it off at one of our 15 Ballot Drop Boxes (BDBs) from May 9, 2022 until 8:00m. on June 7, 2022 (Locations listed here: https://www.yoloelections.org/voting/polling_place);
    • By dropping it off at one of our 13 Vote Centers (VCs) – three of our VCs are open beginning May 28, 2022 and the remaining 10 are open beginning June 4, 2022. Voted ballots in signed VBM envelopes must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on June 7, 2022 (Locations listed here: https://www.yoloelections.org/voting/polling_place­).
  • The Yolo County Elections Office encourages you to return your vote-by-mail ballot before Election Day.

Key Information Regarding Vote Centers (VCs)

  • Yolo County has replaced the traditional neighborhood polling places with 13 Vote Centers placed strategically throughout the county for the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election. Yolo County voters can visit any VC in the county to drop off or cast a ballot in person.
  • Three Vote Centers are open for 11 days beginning Saturday, May 28, 2022 through Monday, June 6, 2022 from 10:00m. to 6:00 p.m. and Election Day, June 7, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    • Davis Veterans Memorial Center - Multipurpose Room, 203 E 14th Street, Davis
    • West Sacramento City Hall - Galleria Rooms 157 & 160, 1110 W Capitol Avenue, West Sacramento
    • Yolo County Administration Building - Room 106, 625 Court Street, Woodland
  • Ten additional Vote Centers are open for four days beginning Saturday, June 4, 2022 through Monday, June 6, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Election Day, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

    • All 13 Vote Centers are open on Election Day, June 7, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    • Vote Centers offer many services. Voters may:
      • Drop off completed vote-by-mail ballots or receive replacement vote-by-mail ballots or envelopes
      • Vote a regular ballot
      • Receive language assistance or copies of translated ballots for reference
      • Use accessible ballot marking devices
      • Complete same day voter registration and conditional and provisional voting

Key Election Dates

Monday, May 9

Mailing of ballots to all registered voters begins.

Voted ballots may be returned in any of the Ballot Drop Boxes or Vote Centers located throughout the county or anywhere in California.

Monday, May 23

Close of voter registration for the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election. Voter registration forms must be postmarked by this date or delivered to the Elections Office by 5:00 p.m. Online voter registration must be completed before midnight on this date at http://www.registertovote.ca.gov/

Tuesday, May 24

Conditional Voter Registration (CVR) begins (also known as: Same Day Registration) at the Yolo County Elections Office or at any Vote Center.

Saturday May 28

Three Vote Centers open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, May 31

Last day a Vote-by-Mail (VBM) ballot can be requested to be mailed to you. After this date, VBM ballots are only available at the Yolo County Elections Office or at any Vote Center.

Saturday, June 4

13 Vote Centers open throughout the County from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, June 7

Election Day, all Vote Centers throughout the County open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
