November 8, 2022 General Election Update – Canvass & Unofficial Election Results

Thursday, November 10, 2022

The Yolo County Elections Office began the canvass for the November 8, 2022 General Election on Thursday, November 10th.  During this time, the Elections Office will continue to count all remaining valid ballots. No results are final until the election is certified. All results posted until certification are unofficial results.

The canvass takes place at the Yolo County Elections Office located at 625 Court Street, Suite B-05 in Woodland. Members of the public are invited to observe. Elections Office staff will be working extended hours (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) on weekdays and some holiday weekends during the canvass until the election is certified. Those interested in observing are encouraged to contact the Elections Office for the most up to date schedule.

The certification and delivery of the official election results must be completed by December 8, 2022. This election there was an immense amount of vote by mail ballots returned on Election Day (via the mail, Ballot Drop Box and dropped off at Vote Centers) as well as an unprecedented amount of conditional and provisional ballots (primarily due to same day voter registrations associated with UC Davis students) that will require additional verification and staff time. “As such, it is estimated that our office will need the entire 30 days to officially certify the election results,” said Jesse Salinas, Yolo County Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters. “Every effort will be made to provide unofficial updates frequently and to certify the election as soon as possible.”

The next unofficial election updates will be Tuesday, November 15th and Friday, November 18th by 5:00 p.m. and are available here: https://www.yoloelections.org/election-returns.
